Dr. Oumair Aejaz’s Civil Investigation
An extensive civil investigation into former physician Dr. Oumair Aejaz is underway.
Aejaz was an Oakland County-based physician who also practiced medicine in other parts of Michigan and Alabama.
Aejaz worked as a contracted physician and spent time at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Michigan. In the past, he also practiced medicine at Southeast Health Medical Center in Alabama and other locations.
Aejaz was arrested by Oakland County detectives who were serving a search warrant after his wife provided materials that were concerning to the sheriff’s office.
He is lodged in the Oakland County Jail on a $2 million bond; he has been indicted and accused of secretly filming and photographing undressed children and adults; and he is also facing a charge for allegations that he abused current and former patients.
Aejaz isn’t just accused of secretly filming children and adults at hospitals, a swim school, and homes; he is also being accused of physical, assaultive, and criminal conduct.
Recent complaints state that he sexually abused some of the victims, sometimes even on camera.
As a result, lawsuits are currently being filed to help compensate victims and their families for their suffering and help prevent future abuse.
Anyone who was harassed, abused, felt uncomfortable during an exam with him, or was a patient of Dr. Aejaz and believes he invaded their privacy may soon be eligible for significant compensation.
Aejaz’s patients may not be aware that he could have been secretly photographing or recording them.
Because of this, victims may be entitled to compensation, even if the abuse took place years ago.
Victims and survivors of sexual harassment and sexual abuse suffer damages such as missed work, loss of income, medical bills for treatment, therapy, counseling, and more.
Charges Against Dr. Aejaz
Aejaz was arrested on August 8 and charged on August 13 with producing child sexually abusive activity in August 2023, five counts of using computers to commit a crime, and four counts of distributing or capturing images of an unclothed person. The charged activity ranges from 2020 to 2023.
The Oakland County sheriff and prosecutor warn there could be hundreds of victims, possibly even more than disgraced Michigan State University sports doctor Larry Nassar abused.
The videos and photographs span over six years.
Since he videotaped thousands, many will not know if their or their loved ones’ privacy was invaded.
Anyone who was harassed, abused, felt uncomfortable during an exam with him, or was a patient of Dr. Aejaz and believes he invaded their privacy may soon be eligible for significant compensation.
It’s common for victims of sexual assault, abuse, and harassment to discount the fact that they’ve been hurt by a person that they trust, such as a doctor, or they might feel ashamed or embarrassed and scared to tell others about the abuse.
If you or a loved one have experienced sexual assault, unwanted sexual advances, inappropriate sexual touching, or indecent exposure, you or your loved one should receive help and seek justice.
Although we know that even 7-figure compensation can’t erase a life-altering event, or heal the pain, it can at least help reduce the financial stress and help hold offenders and their employers accountable to help prevent future abuse.
