Dr. Brock’s Civil Investigation

An extensive investigation into former gynecologist Dr. Barry J. Brock is underway.

In August, in light of an investigation by Cedars-Sinai into his activities, Dr. Brock informed his patients that he was retiring from medicine.

Brock, who no longer practices medicine, served as an OB/GYN in California, including at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Beverly Hills-Rodeo Drive OB/GYN Clinic.

Under the guise of medical care, Dr. Brock allegedly sexually harassed and abused women.

Brock is being accused of inappropriate behavior during medical exams, including making inappropriate comments, failing to provide gowns for women, and conducting unnecessary vaginal exams.

He allegedly mishandled obstetric care, leading to complications like delayed cesarean sections, excessive use of Pitocin, and failed vacuum extractions, resulting in severe outcomes like brain damage, cerebral palsy, and developmental delays in infants.

A recent complaint states that the medical center knew about the alleged abuse but allowed him to continue practicing medicine for decades.

The complaint states that, instead of protecting patients, “the only thing Cedars did was lie, gaslight, and help cover up Brock’s crimes—while exposing a countless number of unsuspecting patients to a known serial sexual predator.”

Obstetrics and gynecology patients of Dr. Brock have filed complaints of sexual misconduct, sexual assault, battery and harassment, and gender violence, as well as similar accusations from other women who have sued him.

Because of this, victims may be entitled to compensation, even if the abuse took place years ago.

Victims and survivors of sexual abuse suffer damages such as missed work, loss of income, medical bills for treatment, therapy, counseling, and more.

Lawsuits Against Dr. Brock

Dr. Brock is facing multiple lawsuits by female patients who say he subjected them to inappropriate behavior, sexual harassment, gender violence, and abuse.

The recent court filings show a pattern of misconduct and abuse that spans the course of Brock’s 40-year-long career at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Beverly Hills-Rodeo Drive OB/GYN Clinic.

Brock has openly favored vaginal deliveries over cesarean sections, but recent sexual abuse lawsuits allege that his delay in performing cesareans caused permanent brain damage in two children he delivered.

Another complaint by a plaintiff, identified only as Jane Doe 18, states that she was given an unnecessary breast exam by Brock, who said, “You have perfect breasts. Does your husband tell you that?”

Because of this, dozens of patients have already sued over Brock’s abuse and medical malpractice.

It’s common for victims of sexual assault, abuse, and harassment to discount the fact that they’ve been hurt by a person that they trust, such as a doctor, or they might feel ashamed or embarrassed and scared to tell others about the abuse.

If you or a loved one have experienced sexual assault, unwanted sexual advances, inappropriate sexual touching, or indecent exposure, you or your loved one should receive help and seek justice.

Although we know that even 7-figure compensation can’t erase a life-altering event, or heal the pain, it can at least help reduce the financial stress and help hold offenders and their employers accountable to help prevent future abuse.
