Dr. Guirguis’s Investigation
An extensive investigation into former physician Dr. A. “Michael” Guirguis, also listed in medical directories as Dr. Abdelmessiah K. Guirguis, is underway.
Dr. Guirguis worked at Norton King’s and Daughters’ Health in Madison, Indiana, from 2008 to December 2025.
On Dec. 15, 2025, Dr. Guirguis’ patients were notified he was fired for what records state as “grossly unprofessional conduct.”
During that time, the state of Indiana was also investigating complaints against him.
According to recent complaints, Dr. Guirguis is being accused of sexually abusing male patients during medical exams, and the allegations go back many years, with some as far as six years ago.
Recent reports state that the first formal complaint against Guirguis was filed in April 2025, but that Norton did not fire him until December 2025, after a high number of allegations against Guirguis.
In February 2026, the Indiana Attorney General’s Office filed a petition with the Medical Licensing Board, arguing that Guirguis posed an immediate danger if allowed to practice, and the board suspended his license for 90 days.
Some of the allegations against Guirguis include watching a patient ejaculate while providing a semen sample, grabbing or touching a patient’s penis during exams, performing a “stretch test”, unnecessary prolonged genital exams, conducting rectal or prostate exams with more than one finger, and/or failing to warn a patient before insertion.
Other complaints state that the physician allegedly did not wear gloves during certain genital or prostate exams and made inappropriate comments about patients’ genitals.
Sexual abuse and sexual assault can occur under the guise of medical care.
When sexual abuse allegations involve a medical professional, it can be difficult for survivors to recognize what happened as abuse.
If you or a loved one were a patient of Dr. Guirguis and something about your exam felt wrong, you should speak with an attorney as soon as possible.
Sexual Assault/ Abuse Disguised as Medical Care
Medical settings are built on trust, and when boundaries are crossed under the appearance of medical care, it can leave people questioning their own experience.
Patients often describe feeling uncertain and unsettled, and wondering whether what happened to them crossed a line and whether it qualifies as sexual assault.
That confusion is common and deeply understandable when abuse occurs in a clinical environment where patients are taught to trust their doctor.
Sexual abuse or sexual misconduct disguised as medical care may include, but is not limited to, unnecessary/inappropriate physical examinations, exams that went beyond the scope of the medical visit, prolonged or repeated touching without medical explanation, behavior that makes the patient feel uncomfortable, violated, or unsafe.
According to the accusations against Guirguis, several men said he touched them in ways that had nothing to do with a normal checkup. Allegations state that he made inappropriate comments, didn’t explain what he was doing, kept exams longer than necessary, sometimes didn’t wear gloves, and performed exams with no real medical reason.
He subjected patients to sexual abuse under the guise of medical care.
Investigators say the abuse involved multiple patients over time.
Former patients of Dr. Guirguis have already filed complaints of sexual misconduct and sexual abuse.
Because of this, victims may be entitled to compensation, even if the abuse took place years ago.
If you or a loved one were harassed by Dr. Guirguis, abused, given an unnecessary medical exam, felt uncomfortable during an exam with him, or were inappropriately touched, you should speak with an attorney as soon as possible.
